LIQUID MASK HIKARI

LIQUID MASK HIKARI
After drying, HIKARI liquid mask forms a flexible and transparent masking film for model building, RC vehicles, model building and custom paint work.

The Liquid Mask HIKARI is a temporary coating that is easy to apply with an airbrush or a spray gun, intended for masking and protection, especially on LEXAN

Qualities
The water-based acrylic composition, without ammonia, without silicone, ensures that the liquid mask does not stick, does not stain, does not pollute and does not react on rough or painted backgrounds.

The formula makes it easy to dilute the product and rinse the airbrush with water. The Liquid Mask contains no solvent or ammonia.

The HIKARI Liquid mask forms a dry and transparent film, very flexible and easily peelable, which can be applied without risk of paint, without tearing off the paint when it is removed. It is therefore easy to wipe off and does not stain.

The liquid mask shows good resistance to water and chemicals (solvent-based paints and varnishes).

Without silicone, it does not contaminate the surface.

Thickness and drying
Depending on the desired thickness, two or three consecutive coats can be applied with a minimum interval of five minutes between each coat.

The RC HIKARI liquid mask is a water-based acrylic product : it nevertheless dries very quickly. In +/-15 minutes the product is dry to the touch and in 30-45 min it is completely dry to the core.

The dry product remains easy to cut with a scalpel. To prevent the liquid masking film from breaking, you can choose a large thickness if you are going to cover several layers of paint and color.

How to make a scenery on an RC model hull with the liquid masking
The product can be applied directly to the LEXAN, or to a coat of paint, whether gloss, matte or sanded. Once dry, you can draw decorations on the Liquid Mask with a marker, or directly trace or trace the decorations below, as the product is completely transparent. When working on a radio controlled model kit you work in the negative, that is to say inverted, in the fuselage.

After applying the paint to the liquid mask, it is advisable to remove the masking with the tip of the scalpel without waiting for the paint to harden too much. This step must be performed when the paint is « half dry half wet ».

The decorations can be drawn on the shell or on the dry liquid mask. And then cut out with a sharp scalpel (hobby) knife.

Compatible materials
metals, plastics (lexan, PP, PE, ABS, PS, PC), smooth cardboard, wood, glass and ceramics. As a precaution, you can always do a test on your material first.

Usage
Mixed
The liquid mask is ready for use with a 0.5 mm mouthpiece or larger. It can be easily diluted with water in an amount of about 5 to 15%, for use with finer airbrushes.

Apply
On the dry, clean, dusted floor.

Apply two coats with an airbrush or spray gun, 2-5 minutes apart.

A significant film thickness of 60 to 100 µm wet (2 to 3 coats) is recommended to facilitate "break-free" detachment, especially if you are going to apply layers of paint.

It is possible to work on the dry liquid mask, or cover it without time limit. After a few days, it is easy to peel off.

When painting, it is important not to let the paint dry too long so that it does not harden.

Yield: 5-6 m²/L

Drying : 15 min per layer

Cleaning : With soapy water

What is the advantage of using a liquid mask over a fuselage in a radio controlled radio?

To mask specific areas when decorating, self-adhesive masking (paper tape, PVC adhesive net and repositionable Frisket-type transparent adhesive film) is usually used.

This technique is impossible on curved or complex surfaces.

The liquid mask can be applied directly and quickly to any shape, which is an unbeatable advantage over other masking techniques.
